New Beginnings

A post titled 'New Beginnings' requires some sort of introduction of the people writing it and the purpose.  I am blessed by teaching in a school that allows me to teach next door and one floor down from two of my best friends.  It didn't start that way, in fact, as with all things in life, things just worked out that way.  That's where this story begins.

This blog is authored by two of us: Mindy and Lynn. We teach in a first and second grade combination classroom.  The classroom consists of half first graders and half second graders.  Our students loop through our classroom, meaning we welcome 10-11 new first graders and loop our second graders each year.  These students are not placed in our classroom by ability so we've become masters of differentiation.  The instructional levels can range from middle of kindergarten to fifth grade-- all in the same classroom.  It's a tough job.  We work from sun-up to sundown.  We have a vision.  We are never satisfied.  We are never content.

We would be silly to think that we are anything special.  We know so many of you are out there working your tootsies off doing the same thing.  Day in.  Day out.  In high heels.

So why the blog? It's our next step.  Some of the stuff we will share you may already do.  Some of it will be new, cutting edge, and exciting.  We want to share our journey with you.

Things to look for:
Technology, technology, technology
How to be (nearly) paperless in a primary classroom
Teacher Leader pointers
Competency Based Education
Assessment for Learning (formative assessment)
Free stuff: we don't have a TPT store, it won't be fancy, but it will be free.

So follow us.  Tell your friends.  Let's get started.

Mindy
